I've experimented with all kinds of colors except bright ones as those just look awful on me.
Right now my fingernails and toenails are a dark almost gunmetal blue. Next time I might go for a deep burgundy or purple. For a long time though I did stick to typical colors like pink, beige, red, peach, bronze and nude.
I happened to look at the toes of a middle-aged woman and noticed she had blue polish on her toenails! Who started this fashion of painting nails green, blue, yellow, black, etc.? When I was growing up, about all the colors available were derived from red and brown.
When I was a teenager in the 70s blues and greens and even black were popular.
