Anyone that considers a Brooks Brothers, Hickey Freeman, or Zegna suit "average, acceptable quality" is really skewed as to what the general population purchases. I can't even take this list seriously; what about Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Stafford, Kenneth Cole, Tommy Hilfiger, etc etc?!! I mean obviously when one considers a Hugo Boss suit as "average", they don't understand when regular people wear in suits.
I'd love a Brioni suit but I don't have Donald Trump money to purchase one. I've gotten numerous compliments on the Hugo Boss suit, it fits my body well because Boss suits are generally made for thinner men, and I've never had problems with the gluing showing any sign of bubbling. Most people spend less than $500 on a suit, that price would barely touch a "mediocre" Joseph Abboud. Simply ridiculous list.
I've missed several posts in this thread so I hope I'm not repeating, do you have TJ Maxx in your area? It takes some time, but you can find some incredible bargains in that store.

Just dress shirts and ties primarily. I like my Hugo Boss suits and have no plan on getting different ones. I just need a few new shirts and ties to go with the suit!
Slim and modern fitting suits along with skinny ties and pointy toed loafers/dress shoes are where it's at. Socks with designs and multiple colors, tie clips, cuff links, a nice watch and other accessories accentuate the look even more.

Those suits aren't terrible all things relative. But I simply CANNOT STAND...I repeat...CANNOT STAND skinny ties!! Hate, hate, hate!!!

A tie should be thick and wide. I generally like a spread collar because it allows for a thick knot and wide ties to hang correctly.
Skinny ties are a no-no where I work, nobody wears a skinny tie...ever. If I wore a skinny tie to a business meeting, I'd probably be laughed at or wouldn't even show up.
We are not in 1972. Styles change. But if you insist....

What the general public purchases has nothing to do with quality. The general public bases it's decision on cost and look of the suit. Quality is more determined by construction, fabric, etc. So just because the public purchases it doesn't mean that it's quality. That notion is quite laughable.
Because you had to find the most outdated-looking picture on the internet?
When most normal people wear a suit, they also wear a regular tie. Just look at any businessmen or even the American President's.

I can't imagine someone like Jamie Dimon wearing a skinny tie or a number of the suits shown in this thread, other than the suit Daniel Craig is wearing...which gets a from me.
