I guess buying a sequined garment may keep these people employed but the look is a bit too overt "look at me". When I crave shine, I prefer silky fabrics instead.
Most sequined clothing isn't hand sequined anymore -- it's done by machine. With all the sequins even paying a poor person to do it by hand would be costly in the end.

Years ago, my mom hand beaded the front of a simple silk sleeveless shell she made -- sequins, seed beads, bugle beads and and these pear shaped beads that hung off the bugle beads -- very sparkly and lots of movement. It took her several months for it to be ready for New Years Eve.

Don't like them. For formal evening wear, maybe, but otherwise, and obviously this is merely my opinion, they look gaudy to me.

LOVE the sequin skirt outfit. I think that's the best way to do them and even works for daywear.

And _ataraxia, those sequined looks are awesome - the photos themselves are very artistic. Love 'em!

I hate them. I tend to prefer muted and understated clothes anyway and if I want a little iridescence I prefer using something like silk.

I like the look of sequins juxtaposed with something like jeans, but I would not wear them very often because they are scratchy and hard to clean without the sequins falling off.

I've got a couple of sequined t-shirts. They are fun, but I don't have a full on sequined top.

I saw a sequined wrap dress in the stores yesterday. I am tempted, but considering the machine sewing, I feel like it needs to be very cheap for me to partake. You can't even hop that buttons stay on clothes these days, you'd probably leave a trail of sequins if you aren't careful.
