I currently use both but I am getting away from body wash because of all the "microbeads" that end up in the ocean.

Part of my preference has to do with the body wash bottle being hard to hold. I don't like the pump style. The ones that you hold upside down and squirt body wash into a washcloth--well, they're hard to hold. I prefer just using a bar of soap and lathering up the wash cloth. Also the body wash I'm currently using is so-so. It has a very thick pudding-like consistency and you have to use a huge glob of it to get any lather and then it's almost too much lather. I think with body washes, it's hard to control the amount of lather. It's either too much or too little. A bar of soap is easier to use.
A bar of soap causes less waste and doesn't use plastic. I like things to be practical and basic so I use a bar of soap. If you're buying craft made soap, it may even come just wrapped in a piece of tissue paper so barely any waste & no plastic.
No it isn't. You assume that it is nasty. But it's not actually nasty. No one who knows me has any idea until I tell them. Then they are shocked.
It is true that some people have very little body odor. You may well be one of them.
But I guarantee you that if you don't bathe, someone kissing any of your body parts can taste the sweat and dirt that builds up over the course of the week.
I like to buy handmade soaps. We used to get them at farmers' markets, or even Sprouts.
I got 8 bars of handmade olive oil soap in Greece for like one euro. Also a bunch of ornamental clay soaps I'm saving for ---- whatever.
Don't like body washes. Awkward to use, imo.
