Well maybe it doesn't "prevail" here but I have seen it more than enough times in the DC area.

I suppose some women have the same preference as to what men wear. I'm sure a good percentage would rather see a guy out in a good fitting suit or nicer casual clothes rather than shirtless or in a wifebeater with their pants hanging off their ass. It just reflects a different class of person.

Actually it's the cloths that make the Man...... But it's the smile that makes the woman, whatever she is wearing will seldom be noticed......by the right Man. Good night mostest woman, where ever you are.......

You and me both. It's too much.. in your face. enough already...!!
Come on girls- show a little creativity and class and quit trying to look like desperate hookers. No one's impressed, except the db's who think desperate hookers are cool.
And guys- hello, quit buying into it...! Oh well, what am I saying.. they're GUYS- that'll never happen!
I just miss the eras when people had more class & style.... *sigh*...

All right, goldilocks.

This is too little
This is too much

What's just right?

Tell everyone so we can know just how much skin is required to be covered up, and how much skin is required to be shown.

The man might not remeber the smile either.

How you dress is a reflection on your intentions. If you go to work with T and A hanging out the preception is your here to pickup men not pursue a career. That is not to say some men won't like what they see but both sexes that are in it for the long haul may perceive your not. I do realize the fashion industry is not helping the matter but suitable clothes can be found if you try.
Also the business world in some industries have gone business casual but to learn the basics in office dress men and women alike should read "Dress for Success" making any necessary adjustments to their company's mode of dress.
You also need a bit of common sense such as no sneakers unless your in the medical industry or just had foot surgery.
Open toe shoes are still a no no. Any top that looking straight on at you that shows cleavage is out and also a top that a person standing while your sitting can see down is another outie.
I heard from two people in the past month that were written up or verbally warned for their manner of dress at the office. One understood her supervisors reasoning and the other didn't. Just in case you don't get it is a distraction for those there to pursue a career.

As a straight guy, my opinion is that this whole issue of Modesty/Skin is rooted more in psychology that any real tangable issue. I know this is going to make me look bad, but one time I was with a friend in Vegas and went to a...*ahem*..."Girly show" and as I was watching the show one thought struck me.

"Why is this such a big deal?"

I mean, the girls were beautiful and attractive and it certainly was enjoyable to look at, but I didn't feel some primal thrill seeing naked women. Maybe it's me, but deep down I can't really "feel" anything unless I truly know the woman and like them/want to love them as a person. Then it means something. But this whole thing about female (and even male) bodies being some sacred image to either be covered at all costs or shown as some jewel to be fetched seems screwy to me. I'm not a nudist, but when I look at myself I certainly don't see what's so great/horrifying that our whole society goes screwball at seeing a naked person. Having been to art museums and seeing the statues/carvings from antiquity it's like "Oh, it's a picture of a woman and she has breasts. Oh ok". Just not a big deal, but some other people there were like "OMG" (mostly women) or were giggling/oggoling like tools (mostly men). Even people in Saudi Arabia know whats under that burka, they're not stupid. Why the drama/excitement?

I'm a 38-year-old woman, and I agree with you. I think for the most part it just looks desperate.

The woman that flashes the smile across a crowded room, at that man she hardly, if ever, knows is worth more than all the tea in China. Ask any man I think you will get the same answer...once they think about it( some Guys are slow study.) Some may question this, but if you think about it, at a distance, little can be seen including clothes, figure, cleavage, all those things we are supposed to notice first.
That smile the first attempt, a come on behond any other , is a huge ego booster for any Guy. the visions his mind instantly processes, why is she doing this? the mystery, second is being picked out as someone She might like to know, its flattering, is that ego,? personally I do not know. Thats where us guys get mixed up, where we read into a simple smile so many things that are not intended behond the opening of the door a little, an inquiry.
As to the issue of fixing our eyeballs on a woman's chest, well there is no doubt , guilty as charged, but hardly something anyone could notice from a distance, I think, unless you are say Dolly Parton or like kind where proportions exceed , runnith over at any distance. Funny thing how in our corner of a glance, a blink of an eye , we can notice that....But it means little , at that distance, the smile trumps all......

Come on girls, get real ! A woman's body is a special thing, an individual signature, and thank God for that, considering if all of you gals looked the same, life would be very boring I am sure,( at lest for me anyway, and, I am all that counts, right now ). Certainly you must come to your sisters aid here. Showing too much cleavage ? , what a bunch of bull ! Face the facts, many Women have no cleavage by nature, some 's cup runnith over, ! You can not help that ether way,so , it should not be an issue in any work place.... I will give a great example, Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House . I can't think of any woman that is better dressed, that is endowed behond normal in chest size, yet a Grandmother at 70, a powerful business woman who I am sure shows a lot of cleavage where ever She goes. I am also sure many men have noticed her rack, all the while addressing her as madam Speaker asking point of question that may effect the Country., the World...give me ( Her ) a break , its just the way you are, all a part of being someone special, I never met a woman ,that was not.......
