I love the feel of yoga pants. They are comfy and flattering. When I go out wearing them, I don't feel skanky but when I see other women wearing them as part of an outfit like with a sweater or low cut stretchy top, it makes yoga pants look slutty. Most of the time people who I see wearing yoga pants are not in a fitness setting (on campus, at mall, etc.) I also see a lot of mothers with strollers wearing them during the day on the streets.

My question for men and women out there is:

Is wearing yoga pants trashy/slutty, in your opinion?

Is wearing yoga pants as part of an outfit to run errands, go to class, or other non-excercise activities slutty?

Is wearing yoga pants as a "going out" outfit slutty? I have an acquaintance who always wears yoga pants with very low cut stretchy tops. She wears this when we go out on Friday or Saturday nights.

I'm not looking for political correctness or philosophical debates...Just tell me what your personal opinion of yoga pants are in terms of sluttiness and when it is appropriate to wear them.

Yoga pants are just clothing. They, as an inanimate object, cannot be skanky.

It is the gal who *wears them* that can make them part of a skanky outfit.

Worn with low-cut top = skanky
Worn with great tee or sweater = cool & casual.

I think it's stupid to wear fitness gear as a general fashion statement. I don't find yoga pants to be skanky, but I don't really see them as a fashion statement, either.

It depends on how they're being worn, how well they fit the person wearing them, etc. Anything that's a size too small for the person wearing them looks skanky. Worn tastefully, they're cool, comfortable and stylish.

To me yoga pants of the design in your photos aren't really suited for doing yoga. You wouldn't want that much fabric flapping around your ankles.

As a man, I find them great for all occasions, worn with whatever top you'd like.
