Some shades of that cheap NYC brand work pretty good, and for a dollar I wont complain, but there are some shades I have to pay a few exra bucks for because those shades in the generic brand tend to feather or flake.
I envy all you guys!
I have tried sooooooo many different brand lipsticks (cheaper AND high, high end)....all with the same results!
My lips crack, and dry out.
All I am able to wear these days is maybe a lip gloss (Mary Kay)

You should try the Mary Kay Lip Primer (from the timewise collection). It makes a great 'base' for your lipstick. I use it and I think it does a pretty good job of keeping lipstick from feathering. Makes it smudgeproof, too.
I use Almay almost exclusively. They always seem to have the colors I like. But then they stopped making "Pick-me-up pink" which was my absolute favorite.

You should try lip gloss and powder blush. First lip gloss. The use a foam tip eyehadow applicator to put some powder blush on top, Then top wih gloss. This will give you a very flattering deep blush color.
I read somewhere that your best lipstick color is the color thats inside your bottom lip. I also read that you should powder your lips to set your lipstick.. So I figured hey powder blush. Its powder its the right color.
Hm. For two people who don't seem to agree on anything, we sure do agree on makeup.
Well at least we look good
