I've never been to a baptism before except for my own when i was like 1. So my sons is coming up i live in Manhattan Ny he lives in Phx AZ. The baptism is being held over there and i have no idea what to wear. Well i do but im not sure if its appropiate. White shirt maybe black bow tie and suspenders/braces. Ive never worn that combo before but i think i can pull it off. Will i be over dressed?

Yes. That outfit would not be appropriate at any church I've ever attended. What faith?

Many churches have business attire for men, others have more relaxed attire like sports shirts. Best to call and ask.

You definitely want long sleeves and not rolled up with a suit or a sports coat at a minimum.

Thanks.
Its a catholic church. I actually got the idea when i was passing by a church and all the groomsmen were wearing this for the picstures at the end of the wedding.

Sounds fine for PHX my man...Is it gonna be a bautizo al estilo Mexicano, or just a regular American baptism?

No, no, no. Unless you're attending as a bartender. What you saw as the bridal party was exiting a church is vastly different from what you will wear to the Baptismal service.

I suggest you wear a suit or slacks and a sport coat. (Khakis with a navy blazer is always appropriate in church).

LOL, rite on my man!

And if that's the case than, well, I (obviously) don't know the family, but I would assume that it will be pretty informal... Depending on how Norteño or ranchero they are you might even see some of the guys rocking sombreros y botas, I'm sure you have seen how some of them dress all vaquero like that... But I went on youtube to see if I could find an average looking bautizo and this one looks like a fairly good example: Misa de bautizo! - YouTube

Anywayz, for Mexicanos, the church ceremony is just something to over with and get some nice photos, cuz as soon as the misa is over, it's the real bautizo, the party!! Hope you like cheap tequila, bud light and cumbias my man cuz that's what a Mexican baptism is really about, the afterparty!! Enjoy yourself my man and show them how a real tigere from Guachingtong Jeits gets down!! LOL

Sports jacket or suit and neck tie is better. You'll look like the bartender in that outfit.
