accutane is what cured my acne (in high school). the stuff is the miracle cure.
Miracle drug for me, my husband and many of my other friends as well. Unfortunately, most derms won't prescribe it (isotretinoin) anymore and most patients are spooked at the thought of it.

i used it about 15 years ago, ive heard that there has been some lawsuits since then and so its harder to get. my dad's gf's son recently took it and it cleared him up. its a shame that lawyers ruin such a good deal and leave room for people to just waste tons of money on products that dont work.
My derm won't prescribe it either. Said something about birth defects (which matter none to me because I have an IUD and don't want children), and depression/suicidal thoughts (which would worry me as I have bouts of depression anyway).

Can you do vitamin A instead under a doctors care? Vitamin A is toxic at high levels so do not just take it and cross your fingers. Accutane is related to vitamin A. Just please clear the right dose for you with your doctor. Its a MUST.
Accutane is the only serious remedy. I had severe cystic acne in my teens. The solution was 6 months of heavy-duty Accutane. Without insurance, it would have been $20 per daily dosage - and that was some 2 decades ago. Fortunately health insurance helped. As for the side-effects and reluctance of physicians to prescribe... hopefully for "older" patients there is less reluctance.
The regime from acne.org is pretty good. They have a 3 step program and it worked for me back when I had it bad. I also noticed that since I cut out the fast food, my skin improved greatly. You don't have to cut it out completely, just reduce it by 50% and see if you notice a difference.
We moved into a house that had extremely hard water, it flared up really bad. I had to wash my face with bottled water. I came up with this theory that when myself or my neighbor (who had the same problem) would travel away from home it cleared up. Dairy also makes me break out...bad.
Has your doc prescribed an oral antibiotic? My daughter takes Doryx along with two topicals, Ziana and I forget the other one, and it has made a big difference.
Also, do you have any symptoms of polycystic ovary disease? Acne often accompanies that and sometimes responds to oral contraceptives.
i doubt depression isnt a legitimate side effect of accutane. but if you believe it is, then it may show up. people just want to find something to blame.
