For the record, I'm not gullible enough to actually believe there is any real comparison between slapping on some eye liner or lipstick vs. paying strangers to knock me out, slice me open, and insert foreign objects into my body.. but if you bought into that line, I just wanted to point out there is another response you seemed to dismiss altogether..
Notice that I did say that obviously plastic surgery is more drastic and risky. But the MINDSET between a desire for plastic surgery, and other less invasive forms of changing one's looks, may not be so terribly different.

It's all about the culture and what it teaches us equates to "beauty." Earlier someone posted that if our culture deemed flat chests to be beautiful, some woman would be paying doctors to chop their boobs off. Likewise, if green or blue lips were deemed to be beautiful, those are the shades of lipsticks we'd be using. (in fact it's interesting to me that recently, greens and blues have become popular nail polish colors).

All I was saying in my "change of heart" is that I probably shouldn't consider a woman with fake boobs completely pathetic for falling prey to the pressure to look a certain way. Most of us do that, to some extent. I still don't think I would ever have plastic surgery, and it is unfortunate that some women feel the need to take such drastic measures to look a certain way, but I like to use makeup/haircolor to look a certain way, so we do have that motive in common.

It's called trying to find common ground instead of looking down on fake-boobed women in my former self-righteousness regarding the issue.

I did notice you acknowledged that plastic surgery is a more drastic and risky manifestation of cultural brainwashing. I appreciate that you still see that.

That was me earlier in the thread that said these same women who are getting implants would be chopping their boobs off if flat chests were the beauty ideal. It is indeed cultural programming / brainwashing that leads women to want to look any different than "how god made them". A feral child raised by wild dogs would never come up with the idea that her boobs need to look different. That's a really weird example to point out that only if we'd been raised isolated from modern culture, could we truly say our thoughts were our own. Even just making an effort to distance oneself from media can be very mind freeing. On the contrary, those that immerse themselves in the culture are at risk of becoming utter slaves. In this way we can think of breast implants as a sign of slavery at the deepest level, whereas some occasional makeup use might fit more in the category of say the downstairs staff on Downton Abbey, not full slaves but certainly at the service of the culture.

Lastly and most importantly, I would urge you to maintain your sense of righteousness and resist the trend of finding common ground at the diminishment of your own beliefs. That's another big push of modern cultural brainwashing: that judging is wrong! Discernment, knowing right from wrong, are all we have allowing us to remain a somewhat free society. What is wrong with looking down on women with implants? Again, you didn't come up with the idea that this is "wrong" on your own. That message came from outside you, and you've internalized it. Challenge that concept! You are not hurting yourself or the fake boob woman by having the simple opinion that she is probably more vain, more weak minded, and more insecure than you. Thinking that does not have to consume you or change the way you treat people. In fact holding on to your beliefs can ultimately help people! Don't force yourself to understand sickness as if it were healthy.

Yep, this is it.They look fake. They stretch the skin and nipples. When the woman is lying down, they look like the water balloons that they are. Scars are often visible on the underside of the breast.

Then there is the issue of the mentality of someone who would get them. Implants, to me, scream "insecure" and "high-maintenance"; neither of which interest me.

I feel bad putting down women for any reason. I don't judge him as bimbos or anything like that but if they go around spreading lies and misleading other women by claiming their implants look natural even when naked, I think it's only fair that we inform the truth even if it hurts some people.

It is not fair to mislead young girls because I bet you many women who get implants don't know as much as about breasts as men do. Men know because because they spend their adolencence looking at naked women. Women don't. Then they get these surgeries and they get labeled as dumb and superficial.

When they slice you open they stretch your skin and leave scars, it is not as consequential as coloring your hair or wearing makeup. You cannot compare the two. You cant get implants and remove them and look the same way as you were before. The superficial stamp and body damage will be there forever. Make up and hair color can be fixed in minutes without a trace

Not my wife's choice for sure. After breast cancer and reconstructive surgery she would have preferred to have her muscle transplanted to where her breast was removed. Unfortunately my wife is petite and was not a good prospect for this. So, to avoid having to have a prosthesis (external) to help her look "symetrical" she had a transplant on one side and does not like it. It feels hard and artificial both to her and me and would NOT have been a choice for her had it not been for the cancer surgery.

Thats really an entirely different matter. Thats just making the best out of a bad situation. I could also understand women who have severely underdeveloped breasts, wanting to get implants. But I'd bet that 95% of the women who get them, are just messing up their preferably good breast, to make them look like crap.

I guess it's no worse thought then all the other nonsense women do in the name of fashion. The bad hair dye jobs, the excessive tattoos and excessive piercings. many of which just end up being unwanted scars.

Are you serious? Casting judgement and being hateful while doing so is the definition of hating on. Most of you people probably wouldn't even know if a woman had implants if they were done tastefully and proportionately to her body size.

A lot of women that undergo BAs don't need them. IMO, they look better with their natural smaller breasts, but others with misshapen breasts, AA/AAA, or deformities might benefit from the pros of breast augmentation surgery when done by a skilled and board certified doctor. It's important to not go too big and stay within your body proportions.

Some women need them because their boobs are not even and they might have a slightly heavier bottom, so they want that correction to appear more proportional, if they can afford it.
Some women need them because they are in the porn/entertainment business and want to draw more attention. They prefer that “cartoon character” look.
Personally, I don't need a boob job, because I am very proportional, in this case ,I feel like that is enough for me and my man.
Everyone that “hates” them, don’t really hate them like they say they do. It is a preference thing for men and women. They just get worked up.
If I woman is jealous of another woman that gets more attention from men because of her boobs, that is not the kind of men she needs to hang with anyways.
Men like all boobs, as long as they are healthy looking. Some boobs jobs can look pretty natural, but some look like Plastic surgeon disaster…Immediate turn off…
So, they are a lot of mixed feelings about fake boobs. Generally speaking, it is not the healthiest option for women.
I don't know.....women have been having children for years and years and have not required fake boobs....

I can understand why a woman would want implants after a mastectomy or if there was some type of deformity. But just to make them bigger - I'll never understand this. I am in the reverse situation of considering a reduction because my breasts are way too big for my frame and are causing me significant back, neck and shoulder problems, not to mention the cosmetic problems with being disproportionately large. They are such a burden - I would seriously be happy with an "A" cup. The only hesitation I have is that the surgery is much more extensive for a reduction than enlargement and this is a concern. There is also significant down time.

I strongly recommend that women who want to get implants for cosmetic reasons consider the non-cosmetic ramifications of having larger breasts, especially as you get older.

When I was younger I REALLY wanted breast implants because I felt like I didn't quite fill out a swimsuit and other clothing as well as I would like. But I couldn't afford it, so I didn't. Now that I'm older, I'm glad I never got them. Now that so many women have breast implants, the ones who have natural breasts just seem more - well, natural - and I think that looks better. I also can't imagine them not getting in the way if you were athletic.
