Although I'm only 5' 5", having trouble finding pants with a long enough rise (say 12") to be comfortable. Anyone else have this problem? Do most Tall pants have the same rise as Average? Do you buy Tall size pants and alter the length?

I have a short rise naturally, but my mom and one of my sisters are complained about this quite often.

Every now and then I see 1940s-styled higher-waisted pants in the stores, but generally, to get a longer rise, you need to go with a more conservative/mom jean type cut.

I'm not a fan of Lands End (too conservative for my taste), but I know their Tall pants have a longer rise. According to their sizing chart, the Talls seem to have a 1-2" longer rise (depends on the size). You can see the sizing chart here.

Out of curiosity, do you have problems with stockings/pantyhose, too? I keep running into short-rise tights, and they annoy the crap out of me!

I'm not a gal and yet I'd like to say that low rise is in fashion these days, alas. High rise is sort of harder to find than it used to be back in the day. I also think manufactureres found another way to cut their costs making a low rise pants since they require less cloth.

I don't see them around much. I have a hard time finding jeans for my daughter who does not want to wear a lower rise jean at all. She is pretty conservative in dress, which is fine. I cna't find it anywhere...

Have you tried 'pin up' or vintage styles?

There are a few websites that cater to people who prefer to wear more conservative/vintage style pants and jeans so you may have luck there.

Try pinupgirlclothing.com or daddyos.com

I have a few others as well if you're interested.
