Yeah, I want to thank the mod for deleting it. It is demoralizing when people make judgments over other people's grooming choices. Many men manscape today; some men like body hair on themselves; some don't. And even women today have different preferences on men; some think body hair on men is attractive and some don't. I feel in today's society, there's no wrong choice as either way is acceptable. So men should be allowed to do what they want and not be judged for it. I even have a male colleague who gets his eyebrows waxed. I personally don't do it and never would because I'm happy with my eyebrows as is, but I would never judge him for it. It's his choice and if that's what makes him happy, then good for him!

By the way, how likely are infections from bikini wax? I was doing more reading about it and heard there's a chance of getting infections. Anyone ever experience an infection from a bikini wax? Now I'm scared more than ever...

It's not because it's addicting tho IMO........that's about the normal time a brazilian wax lasts. Up to 6 wks but it depends on your health & age. Be sure to use an after wax oil product to calm & moisturize the skin.

edit: AND....I know this thread is super old BUT....I wouldn't have it done for the 1st time before a vacation.

If anyone wants a medical opinion, there's this article from long ago, older even than the beginning of this thread:

https://www.kevinmd.com/blog/2011/04...ubic-hair.html

But the article was by a middle-aged doctor. I'd bet that the younger doctors are affected by fashion as much as anyone.

I've been getting waxed (Brazilian) for almost 20 years (same woman.) Knock on wood, I've never had an infection or an issue when waxed. I was more prone to small infections from ingrown hairs when I shaved.

Ita. It can happen BUT it's not that common....tho it is seen a little more in women with diabetes & older women where their immunity is lowered... or in cases where the esthetician didn't perform the procedure the right way. It's super important to get an experienced & licensed esthetician that makes you comfortable tho if it's something you're going to do.

Thanks everyone. I went ahead and made the appointment. However, the appointment won't be until towards the end of the month because I have to grow the hair long enough. I read it must be 1/4" in length at minimum, so this will be the annoying part. I hate having to grow it this long, but I guess if it leads to the best results from the waxing, then I just have to deal with it.

The place I'm going to has good reviews, but it's $75 for men, which is quite pricey. If I end up liking the results, then I probably will end up getting lasered because in the long run, laser is cheaper. Waxing will cost around $1,000 a year while laser will just be a one time cost of $1,000 total. So, we'll see how things go and what I decide to do later on...

I was just wondering why being completely bare down there became such a thing? Was it because porn stars were doing it and people thought it looked cool? Was it becoming typical in other countries? Brazil, maybe? I certainly wasn't implying anything snarky. Just wanted to know what started this trend.
