I'm getting ready for my vacay next week in the Carib and I'm wondering if I should book an appointment for a Brazilian Bikini Wax.

If you've already had it done, would you recommend it to a friend? Also, how long did the results last? I've been reading a lot of great yelp reviews for a particular Brazilian waxing salon in my area and I'm thinking about taking the plunge.

OMG I couldn't imagine doing it. I'm thinking of doing laser. But I do have friends who do it and they like it.

However, I'm assuming it would be your first time having it waxed?? I probably wouldn't recommend it because you'll probably have a breakout until your skin gets used to getting ripped off. I'd just shave and do it after your vacay

I've only ever done Brazilian (I didn't start with a bikini wax). I've been doing it for over a decade, so the pain is minimal for me. If it's your first time, I'd recommend 2-3 ibuprofen 1 hour to 45 minutes prior to your appointment (it helps reduce any inflammation afterwards, especially if your skin isn't used to it.)

My results last about 5 weeks and it's still minimal growth by the 6th week. But again, I've also been doing it for over 10+ years and the more you do it, the less hair growth you have. And yes, I would recommend it to a friend.

Shaving is a last resort for me.

As Himain mentioned, I'd eventually like to do laser. I just haven't gotten around to starting the process.

No pain no gain. Do it. You will feel so fresh and clean...and there are some other benefits...the only problem? This becomes addicting. You will want a wax every month.

I was scheduled for a Brazilian once, but I backed out after chickening out. It looks painful!

Painful, a waste of money, unhealthy and not even attractive--what's the motivation here?

Oh, something else that can be done to the female body, and if it can be done, then it must be done. One wonders how the world could exist for so long without realizing the vital need for this.

You open yourself up (no pun intended) to the worse infection you could ever have. The hair down there is protection for the genital area. Do a bikini shave or whatever, but do not pull all of the hair out by the roots....there is alot of bacteria in the genital area...just waiting for an opening to enter. Bad idea...

Well, that can go for any part of the body you wax or shave.

Go for it! The results are way better than shaving (which is a bad thing anyway).
Yes, it will hurt a little, but it's worth it. No need to take medication, though, and I recommend wearing light cotton underwear (definitely not lace or things like that!)
