Genetics are unpredictable. You never know what random combination of traits will show up. So it is not true that women get their body shape from their mothers. I sure didn't.
I sure don't look my father! Definitely I have my mother's figure--basically hour glass with substantial hips. Once when visiting her sister, I bent over to pick something up (without bending my knees) and my aunt said, "you look just like your mother"! ha ha ha
I've got very muscular legs shaped just like my dad's (also cycled and danced from a young age) - but from there up, I'm allllll mama. I used to be extremely self-conscious about my legs, but I learned to love them. It really is all about perspective - I have strong functional legs, and I'm proud and thankful for them. Plus, I love my dad to bits.
I sure did not get my mothers shape my mom is huge . Not me Im on the skinny side and will stay there even if I have to sweat my butt off to do it .My dads people are all on the skinny side so Im hoping I have more their genes and looking at pics I do have more of their genes on my side .
When my daughter was little she showed every sign of having my same exact shape, although she had her father's hands and feet. But her shape really changed when she hit about 16-1/2. Her bust grew larger than we expected, shoulders got wider, and her butt and hips were different, too. Even her legs looked more like her father's. Her figure was nothing like mine.
My body and legs are mostly like my mother's. However, all my life my facial features were like my father's side of the family, and when I entered my 40's my face shape started to change and resemble Mom's. Weird.
Facially, I resemble both my parents, but I am built like my father's side of the family. We have that "corn-fed" look: tall, strong, and tending to get fat if we're not careful. My mom can live on chocolate, peanut butter, and Dr. Pepper and stay very thin.
I have found some mothers very attractive. But I wonder if it might be a psychological thing, associating her with her daughter.
That's sick.
