Nail polish wise, I really like a shade like Opi Bubble bath. It makes your nails look healthy, polished but light so that chips don't show. And it goes with every outfit...
Neutral/non abrasive tones are always reliable because you don't have to alter your style. For that matter, neutral/non abrasive dress in general is the most attractive in my opinion.

Because they're on TV, and need to wear more makeup to counteract the lights and the cameras. If they didn't, they'd get complaints for looking washed out and plain.

LOL..those gladiator shoes...

I have not met one guy that likes them. I don't like them either. All I can think of is blisters and how it makes most women's legs look like squatty sausages unless they are really thin or really tall or both.

I like the minimalist look too but sometimes paint my nails (real). I love fake nails on other people but that is another one I see as a common complaint. Really anything that requires a lot of work seems to make guys get turned off. Women don't always dress up based on that though. I sometimes wonder if its more the look of it or the personality that usually comes with that look giving a message of higher maintenance that makes utilitarian men run. LOL

That's what it comes down to, really. It always cracks me up when guys get on the Fashion and Beauty board to make sweeping proclamations that women shouldn't do XYZ because they, personally, don't find it hot. So what? Like I'm going to stop painting my nails because some guy on the internet doesn't like it?

True but I think makeup artists and lighting guys REALLY need to get on it with having their skills work with the new HD format. It has been getting better than it was at first but there are still those days where someone look like they got attacked by a clown to do their makeup.

I know right? I think everyone in LTR has their partner do something with looks where the s.o. and just shakes their head laughing about how they are having fun even if it doesn't look the best. Fun has its own attractive sparkle when you care about someone.

Good observation about utilitarian men. I agree that apparel really tells a lot about a person.

+1

I was going to chime in about this too. I hate to break it to you OP, most of us women dress for ourselves.

How about dressing the next day just like the celebrity was dressing the night before.
