I'm just curious. Why do men typically care more about a woman's body than her face? Most men would rather date/have sex with a woman with a perfect body/average or ugly face than a woman with a gorgeous face but average body. It just seems like most men do not appreciate women with beautiful faces. I think it's more important to have a beautiful face than a perfect body.
If that's your experience with men, perhaps you need to run in different circles.

Haha, I'm the total opposite. I'd be perfectly okay with an overweight woman who had a pretty face.

Those are just the guys you hang out with. There are plenty of overweight women with gorgeous faces who are happily married.
I answered this long ago and don't remember what I said, but I'm sure this will be moderately or very different. This is ignoring the underlying principle that men are less selective in general and typically would take quantity over quality. I'll leave older people out of this discussion. Also, leaving weight out of it, female faces, usually are attractive in a general way (nose size, soft skin, on women often lips that are bigger than most men's). Female bodies, leaving weight out of it as much as possible per the rules, only appeal in a few ways (e.g., breasts), because unlike men (often v-shaped) many women aren't shaped well. Hourglass is almost universally nice and not common and some of the other types are much worse than that. Shape often is hard to gauge in normal clothing. Also, women evidently have more skin problems than men, which in most of the body is almost impossible to gauge in normal clothing and I'd rather not think about the subject. Don't kill the messenger.
I once saw a guy with a t shirt and on the front it had an animated picture of some very large sloppy woman with blonde hair at the bar with a glass of beer and it was titled "PARTY"
On the back of the shirt was a Jessica Rabbit type of woman with blonde hair at the bar with a glass of beer and it was titled "TILL SHE'S CUTE."
LoL.

The stereotype is, that the hourglass figure is the ideal in terms of appeal, but I've read, that some men prefer the apple shape, as unlikely as that seems, because it, too, communicates a certain femininity. A soft belly apparently is the signal there; maybe it conjures images of pregnancy, which would relate to fertility. (I'm just guessing, here.).
Also, what's completely unexpected, is that some pear-shaped women get a lot of lustful glances or stares. I discovered this, when hanging out with a friend, who had a virtually non-existent bust, but wide hips, and an average so-so face. I was astonished by the looks she would get on the street, or anywhere. We popped into a bar once, for a moment, and OMG, the looks she got from everyone there would make you think she should have a bodyguard! Very puzzling, but it must have been the wide hips.
Just another example of how real life is very different from the theories, cliches, and supposed "studies". Different body types are turn-ons for different men. Humans are complex, and no matter how much "scientists" try to asses these things and fit humans into a box, behavior in real life will defy simple formulas.

I actually don't find that surprising at all... Wide hips are very attractive even if she has a smaller bust. I would think that an apple shape is the least desirable because of the big belly.
