Any women wear house dresses or muu muus around the house? (look, full)

My grandmother wore house dresses until she discovered pant suits. The dresses that she wore were inexpensive and probably kept her cool since she lived in the south without a/c. The only time that I saw someone who looked glamorous in a house dress was in La Jolla. I was walking in one of the neighborhoods and I met a woman who was gardening. Her house dress must have cost over a thousand dollars and she looked like a million in that dress.

I wear yoga capris and a t-shirt around the house.

I still see them advertised in the back of the coupon flyers that come with the Sunday paper, so they must have have a market. My grandmother wore housecoats, mom never did. I am in my 30s and stick to yoga pants, but I would love to have a stylish caftan or two in the mix. I associate muu muus with that Simpsons episode where Homer gained a ton of weight so he could work at home. Caftans are more glamorous.

I think there were some house dresses for sale recently in some dollar and drug stores. They were advertised as sundresses, but they looked more like house dresses, IMHO. They weren't "together" enough to wear to lunch with friends (like a sundress would be).

I like flowy, comfy dresses around the house when it's hot out, but these are all things I'd wear in public, too.

I hate shorts, so flowy, soft fabric sundresses are ideal and cool.

Have never worn a muu muu or housedress.
Around the house, I wear stretchy knits, pj bottoms or shorts, and a comfy (well-worn) tee-shirt.

My mother and grandmother both are fans of Housedresses and Muumuus. Mom takes it one step further and has one in Leopard Print that she's particularly fond of.

Me, I have a pair of jammy bottoms that I always wear, while the top is usually some kind of nerd shirt.

What I wouldn't give for full suit jammies with the feet in them, though!

From the time I was 14, I wore and still wear a muumuu (some floor length) or a caftan around the house in the early mornings and often times just a caftan in the evenings...depending on my schedule, etc. It certainly looks better than running around in pj's. But after 8:00 am I am dressed for the day.

That sounds like what my late southern aunt wore. She was dressed for the day after 8 a.m., too.
Her summer outfits were usually cute capri pants, a nice top, and beautiful summer shoes. She had salt and pepper, short, wavy hair - and that blasted cigarette in her mouth. But she was cool. She never married, and was an independent little lady who loved baseball and crossword puzzles.

By housedress do you mean like a cotton overall... my granny wore a cross over one in the house all the time in paisley patterns... IM sixty six and wouldnt dream of wearing one or anything like it.... I wear denims or lounger bottoms around the house...

If I'm going to be home all day and not go out or answer the door, I'll leave my nightgown on. On days when I'm taking out the garbage or am home all day but may go out to the mailbox on the street, I'll put on a muu muu like dress or a long cotton batik beach coverup I bought in Mexico. In the colder months, it will be PJ bottoms and a baggy sweatshirt. (Note: I live alone so no need to impress or look good for anyone.)
