Well, in many cases there's absolutely NO way to tell if a woman is crazy until you've been married to her for a few years and it's much too late to do anything about it (my second wife is a lot less crazy than the first one was).
Incidentally, the first was a blonde, the second is a redhead. And to answer the OP, I'd choose a blonde or redhead mainly for their (presumed) European ancestry.
And as for crazy, I think it's in the eyes. If you really, really stop and look at someone, you can tell a lot about them from their eyes and the wrinkles around them. Maybe a little more than that.
If you have your choice between two females same height, equally beautiful, toned/same size, educated, ect. One is blonde and other is brunette, who would you choose and why?
The one who moves with the most grace and carries herself well
The one who is most well 'grounded', so I am not shocked at a later date
The one who has best vocal timbre so no matter what she says is intoxicating
The one with the easiest laugh and natural flirtatiousness
The one who has the better hygiene and grooming: smells clean, hair clean, (nice furry soft down)
Seriously, if color is your primary variable, and everything else is controlled, I'd be like Captain Hastings, sidekick of Hercule Poirot of Agatha Christie fame, and prefer a nice auburn hair.
Hair color in and of itself, is very low on the list (practically negligible) - unless the individual is one of those visual malcontents who seems to change hair color and dye it bizarre colors quite frequently as if going on a rave to match the ever changing colors of clothing and accents (Nails, Eyes etc...).

Although the hair style would depend. If one was curly and the other straight, I would pick the straight haired girl regardless of hair color.
what is the issue with curly hair?
