Well, yes, I have two North Face jackets, and I will wear them until they wear out. At which point I will replace them with something else. I don't know what. But I will not be buying one of the new too-tight ridged jackets that make men look like women who want to look like segmented annelids.
Popular here along with several other quality brands. My kids have Denali fleece jackets and my husband has a few. I don’t really wear them. I don’t wear fleece and my warm coat is from Athleta. Simple, black, and a bit more sleek.
I don't think you can call fleece a classic since they didn't start long enough ago. Further, you do know you can get a fleece zip from old navy for like 20 bucks or whatever.
I think you could *kinda* start to call it "classic" now since it's been around long enough (20+ years) but it's kind of on the edge still, I remember seeing polar fleece clothing around the mid-90s, I had a rather nice fleece hoody that I just about lived in through fifth and sixth grades which would have been around 1994 or 1995ish, which I think was just before the time fleece clothing really started to become popular, though polyester polar fleece fabric itself has been around since the late 70s.
It's stretching the term but not entirely inconceivable.

Can you post a picture? I'm not sure what that looks like.

There is a North Face Store in downtown Seattle, but also a Columbia, and next to that Mountain Hardware. Looking around while walking in Seattle and the suburbs I would say that Columbia is by far the most popular jacket brand. I have two myself.
