By "flesh-colored" I mean clothing that matches your skin tone, almost exactly.
I was driving to work this morning, and up ahead, I saw some people waiting at a bus stop. One woman appeared to be just wearing pants, and seemed naked from the waist up. I did a double-take. I'm sure I was not the only one, as several cars up ahead were all slowing down and tapping their breaks. Turns out, this well-endowed lady had copper-color skin, and was wearing a form fitting top the exact same color as her skin. She nearly caused more than one car accident!
I have pasty-white/beige skin, and I never wear pants or a top in that color. Apart from making me look washed-out, from a distance, it might look like I'm naked. I was Maid of Honor in my sister's wedding 10 years ago, and she chose a "champagne" color that nearly exactly matched my skin. Gee, thanks Sis.
The other day in Target, I saw an African American woman with coffee-color skin, wearing a T shirt with coffee-color leggings. So she looked like she was wearing just a top and no pants. Do people do this on purpose because they want to give that impression? Or are they just clueless?
So can we all just agree that this is disturbing?
If you have tan skin, don't wear matching tan clothing!
If you have beige skin, don't wear matching beige clothing!
If you have cafe-au-lait skin, don't wear matching cafe-au-lait clothing!
If you have pasty skin, don't wear matching pasty-color clothing!
I've seen where women have worn a skin-tone camisole under a cardigan or jacket, which makes you do a double-take trying to figure out if they're wearing a shirt.
The worst thing is wearing skin-colored skin-tight pants when you're large enough to have a dimpled rear. Sometimes I am out shopping and I just want to scream, "STOP! Back away from the flesh-colored stretch pants!"
Heh. I just bought a shirt almost the colour of my flesh. I was wondering whether to return it. But the perversity of it grew on me. After reading you aversion to it I think I'll definitely keep it and wear it the first opportunity I get.
Dudes don't have this problem since we don't wear such type of colored fabric. Additionally, Body hair serves a useful purpose sometimes and easily makes our clothes and skin distinguishable .
It is confusing sometimes when women do this though, especially in late fall when I start thinking which IDIOT would stand without a shirt on in 45 F weather, and then realize she has a warm sweater on as I get closer . Please back off from flesh colored clothes and don't foster a sense of resentment among those around you.
