If I was able to get even a smile, much less a laugh out of you, my work is done.

it would be comical if she had a flipper - not her feet, as in darryl hannah in splash

I think that one is OK, but not holiday festive. If it is a super conservative law firm, in the middle of downtown, in the highest rent neighborhood, sure.

The first dress is not appropriate for any type of business function, including a holiday party. You do not state if you work for this law firm, but if you do, then you can kiss goodbye any chance for a promotion. You will definitely be the one that everyone remembers, and not in a good way.

The second one is very pretty, but black is not the color that I would wear for a holiday party. Too much black without any additional color. Only my opinion.

Beautiful, classic cut. Trashy use of nude material and netting, and badly tailored to boot.

LOL - there sure are a lot of "prim 'n proper" types judging by these comments! I have always loved being "different" myself. That second dress is very "ho-hum" to me - I'd stick with the first, especially if you have the figure to pull it off. I don't think anyone is going to think there is anything "inappropriate" about it at all. It's pretty conservative compared to other things I've seen out there.

I wish I had an occasion to wear that dress - the only difference would be I would want it in bright red!

The only way to make a black lace over nude badly tailored mermaid dress look worse would be to make it fire engine red.

And this is a law firm party, somehow I doubt that is the environment you work in.
