That's in much better taste, yet still dramatic.

WOW.. LOVE the second dress. Personally,I think that dress is gorgeous, understated, yet stunning. Perfect for the type of function as well.

You might as well wear a full length ermine coat with it if you want the full homecoming queen effect to come together properly. You will be disdained by at least 50% of the women there, especially the wives of husbands you work with.

...if you look like that model.

It depends on your hair and the style. You don't want to look like you're going to the prom. The second black dress is already on the conservative side (assuming that's the one you picked), and you could end up looking severe. I don't like the model's hairdo in that picture. If you have shoulder-length hair, you might go with hair down but well styled.

Hair up to display the gown's shoulders where all the drama is...nothing 'prommy' though. An elegant chignon or French roll.

I like that one much better. It is more appropriate for a law firm dinner.

You can't go wrong with a basic long black dress for a formal evening. I don't suppose you have a ruby choker to go with it?

The black lace over a flesh colored liner looks a bit too "bedroom" for a business party. I do like that dress, but it would be better if the liner were some sort of subdued color, so the men didn't spend the evening attempting to see something more.

Def not in a good way. I think it looks too skanky for a law firm event.

The second dress looks better and the third is nice too. Simple and elegant-you want to wear the dress not have it wear you. #3 looks kind of boudoir photo to me.
