Everyone knows they can go to a thrift shop, Walmart, etc, and purchase clothes, it is no secret. point is they do not want to, need to, and wish to dress nice. Some people view clothes as utility, others do not.

Now please do not go over to another thread when someone proclaims "Americans dress bad", and try to for a debate stating otherwise.

In USD:

Dresses: $20-40
Basic Shirts: $5-20
Blouses: $20-30
Pants & Jeans: $15-80
Skirts, Shorts & Capris: $15-30
Bras: $20-30
Underwear:$5-$10
Socks & Tights: $5
Casual Shoes: $10-40
Dress Shoes: $40-110
Coats & Jackets: $30-100

I had to lump certain items together, as I buy them less often than others. While this is a range of the least to most I have spent, I typically spend somewhere in the middle. This includes regular and sale prices (,although I'll typically buy brand name clothing at a discounted price).

yesterday I bought a pair of sweatpants for myself. It cost about 8.50 and I made my wife agree that it comes out of her budget because otherwise I wouldn't buy it for myself. so I don't spend very much money on myself when it comes to clothes.
