Lose one earing and the bracelet.

I never think gay when I see a man with jewelry. I may think poor taste but never gay.

I do notice less men wearing gold necklaces and bracelets, but how does that mean you're gay if you do wear them?

On a normal day, I typically wear a nice gold chain with a crucifix that was given to me by my grandmother. I sometimes wear diamond earrings (not huge gangster ones) on occasion along with a gold watch and bracelet.

People down here have labeled me as a "Guido" just because of the chain and cross I wear. Which makes no sense because I'm not Italian...I'm black.

Are men not seen wearing gold crosses down here because Catholicism isn't dominate? Is it just an old way of thinking?

For the record, I have no problem with gay people. I just don't like being labeled like that since I'm straight.

I am from NY. Jewelry was always thought of as an Italian, Greek, Israeli thing. The cross, the pinkie ring, the Star of David or the Christ Head, bracelets, gaudy watches etc.

Not all people from those backgrounds wear male jewelry, but it is prevalent in those groups. Also new money types. Some Russians, blacks and Latinos wear it also. And some American Jews wear Chais. Not for me. No thanks.

I wear a wedding ring and a watch. A good but modest watch.

Most gay men do not seem to wear a lot of jewelry. More Guido than Gay, IMO.

I don't know about things being "different in the South" so much. What about Elvis? He wore lots of jewelry - rings, necklaces with crosses, Stars of David, Chis (his mother was thought to be part Jewish) and that TCB lighting symbol. His whole entourage wore jewelry. Lots of gold, Wasn't he from Mississippi? Graceland is in Nashville.

Before I was married, business took me to Atlanta for a few years. There were quite a few men who wore cowboy boots, bracelets, necklaces etc.

I think it's more of a new money thing than a regional thing.

If you like it, wear it.
