I only wear makeup and nice clothes when I am with my boyfriend. Otherwise I wear sweatpants and sneakers and sweaters and no makeup. I go around with my hair looking terrible because I really don't care (don't worry I shower).

What do you think about this? Should I look nice everywhere I go?

I do think people should put forth a little effort when they leave the house.

You don't have to look ready for the red carpet, but you should at minimum be clean and neat. Everyone has different standards, but "looking terrible" isn't really a great standard to strive toward.

I don't wear make up now for the most part, wear very casual clothes but don't call myself a slob. Are you comfortable, that's all that counts.

I worked 40 yrs and got dressed up and made up every day of those years. I went out a lot, boyfriend or not and always made myself look good. Now in retirement I feel a real freedom.

If that's your definition of slob, then I'm a slob all the time as well.

I don't wear make up. I wear athletic/casual clothes (unless I'm going somewhere formal), and my hair is cornrowed under a hat most of the time. People still compliment me though.

I don't consider sweatpants and sneakers as slobby. Not wearing make up isn't slobby either. What do you mean by wearing your hair terribly?

I'd have to say, if you don't care what you look like, it would be odd if anyone here who doesn't know you cares at all what you look like.

*shrug*

Maybe I don't understand what you're asking.

If I were your bf I’d want you to be in yoga pants and no makeup most of the time.

Does your BF know that you don't put forth effort with your appearance when he's not around?

"Dear CD,
When we first started dating, she made an effort with her appearance. Now she can't be bothered to run a brush through her hair.
Signed,
BF"

My point is, don't pretend to be something you're not when you're with your BF. It's not fair to either of you.

I agree with this but I also think most people put a little more effort into looking nicer for a date.

I agree. However, from the way OP describes it, she puts forth no effort other than showering.

Comb your hair. Otherwise you're fine.
