Standing in a long line at the Post Office the other day, I checked out the other ladies' winter wear. (Parka-gazing, the newest thing!) Anyway, the majority of these down coats and jackets were black. Is that because black is said to be slimming, or because of it's ability to hide dirt, and thus cut down on dry cleaning costs? I saw a few salt stains and brushed-against-the-dirty-car crud on some of the coats, so it can't be the latter. Just wondering. I love winter wear.
Thinking of buying this with my Christmas money. Made in Montreal!

Black is neutral and will go with a black purse. It's simple dressing.

Most just don't come in that many colors. It's usually black or white or something hideous.

This. It's basically black, white and occasionally grey. The jacket I have (A Cabela's parka) only came in black and looks similar to the OPs.
