Today was the first time in 2.5 years I made use of Bar soap while taking a shower. I rarely do so, and refer to it as "emergency backup soap" which I use once my mens body wash stash runs empty. I would like to know how often you use Bar Soap while showering. Please feel free to pitch in and share your thoughts.

Yes.

I almost always do.

Derm and gym docs recommend Ivory a lot.

Right now I am using Amazon.com: Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps Pure-Castile Soap, All-One Hemp Peppermint, 5-Ounce Bars (Pack of 6): Beauty.

I like it. A little drying, but nice.

Rarely. Apart from the (typically more costly), specially formulated moisturizing bars, it tends to be drying, and I already have dry skin, especially this time of year. Even in the case of Ivory, I tend to use the Ivory brand of liquid body wash. Shower gels or body wash also do less in terms of leaving the soap scum residue that bar soap often leaves.

We never use bar soap anymore. I am another in the already dry skin camp, and bar soap leaves my skin feeling ready to crack.

Also, liquid body wash leaves much less residue on the shower walls - less cleaning FTW!

I stocked up on moisturizing cooling sandalwood bar soap for men from India, and it works like a charm during the "emergency days". The scent is also retained in my skin for several hours, even after workout + Classes + walk. All I need to do after my hourly afternoon workout before lunch is put on some deo, and I am ready to continue for the rest of my day refreshed with no smell and itches .

However, in my opinion, nothing beats Nivea Cool body wash for men.

If I use bar soap at all, I used this stuff from a local outfit that is made with goat's milk, vegetable oil, and glycerin, and pretty moisturizing. Plus, it's pretty, which, while unimportant in a soap, is a purely superficial added perk. Smells great, too.

Zum Bar Soap
