I had my nose done and am SO happy I did it. I'd consult with a few plastic surgeons and see how you feel afterwards. Plastic surgery done well, does wonderful things. If you look good, you feel good! Do it for yourself though, not for anyone else. You are the person that has to look at yourself everyday in the mirror. I had several friends try and talk me out of a boob job as well. Glad I did it for me. Stretch marks, unfortunately I have them too and can't get rid of them.

Diet and exercise will also help make one feel pretty and fantastic too...

Thanks Wildcard! I can't afford surgery I probably never will. I never thought of it like that sling shot. Good point. I think he would love me even if I read disfigured. He's not superficial. Angelcake 4 good advice I am not happy with my life because I am not happy with myself. I feel if I was skinnier with big boobs and a small nose then I would be happy. Pittchick I am in therapy always have been. It doesn't seem to help though.

After I read your first post, I was going to advise you to get the surgery -- and, if you cant afford it, then at least hope to have it someday in the distant future. But, after reading your follow-up post (excerpted above), I changed my mind. Cosmetic surgery may make you more pleased with your looks but it wont make you happy. I suspect that, if you did have a nose job, you might then find something else about your physical appearance that needs fixing.

It sounds as though what needs fixing is on the inside, not the outside. I'm sorry that you've apparently been in therapy for some time and it hasnt helped you. Perhaps you should find a different therapist. I'll say a prayer for you and hope that you can post a positive update soon.

my girlfriend had a nosejob and it cost her a pretty penny - $18,000 by a top doc. in new york city. it was 100% worth it. the tip of her nose looked like a clown. it was a fat nose to begin with and then bulbuous. after the nosejob, she had modeling offers and also represented her country in a european beauty pageant last year. she basically slimmed out her nose and reduced the tip size making it a bit more feminine and in line with her face. if your nose does not fit your face, people will notice. at least for women it matters. some don't care but if appearance matters for you, then it's worth every penny. i notice ugly features on men and women although i give a pass to men because looks are not as important as achievement. for women however, i ask myself how they let themselves look like that. i am not politically correct. i just state what i see and how i feel.

I think noses add character. Also, my husband had to have some reconstruction due to a tumor, and it was quite painful for him. Not pleasant.
