I take Biotin too though I have good nails - I need thicker hair. The only thing I will say is that artificial nails DO take a toll on your real ones.

Get a good home manicure set with a buffer for shine; use a good lotion; and even a strengthening polish if you need it and see what happens.

I have no clue as to the differences between acrylic, solar or gel nails. Which would be more natural looking? I work in an office and use a keyboard most of the time, so I don't want those pointy nails, I'd like the square tip. Also, I would like to be able to switch from time to time between having a French manicure and a having natural looking polish on the entire nail, like beige or pink or maybe even clear. Would I be able to do that with artificial nails?

Thanks in advance for your help.
I have terrible nails. Have all my life. Even catching one on the edge of a sheet of paper and they tear. I decided to get acrylic nails when my youngest was getting married and I had them redone continuously for eight years. Never had any problems. I always had the same polish - OPI "Hopelessly in Love" It's a very pale pink, almost like a natural nail color (if you have healthy nails).

I stopped having my nails done when I had cancer and was going through chemo. They ended up wearing off and I haven't gone back to them. And my nails are still crappy. FTR: I tried all the nutritional supplements, creams, lotions and potions. Nothing worked. What's really funny is that I always had healthy toe nails!!

If I had a really juicy role I'd probably get them done again.

Sadly, some people have a bad experience with artificial nails and while I'm sure it isn't pleasant to experience the down-side, of the thousands of people who have their nails done weekly, the down-side is a small per cent. I can only relate my own experience. If you decide to go ahead, make sure the nail salon is clean and you're better off if you go to a shop where the owner is the nail tech.

Good luck, whatever you decide.
