LLBean has shearling lined "Bean Boots" in lace up style and a pull on style. They are made in Maine, not China.

My favorite winter boots that keep my feet dry and warm are by a Canadian company Kamik.

My warmest boots are Sorels with a removable liner. They are warm but very bulky and heavy and you may find that they interfere with your ability to operate the pedals when driving. The most important factor is that you need to remove the liners to enable all the moisture they absorb to dissipate.

My son is a wilderness guide and wears muck boots all winter. I think he's found that they work better than other boots he's tried, and they're very high for the snow.

In chicago, (I live there) cannot go wrong with the Sorels. Only minus, some of the bulkier styles it is hard to drive in them. In general, nothing that is any good for winter, can be purchased at the big box stores... you are better off going to an outfitter store like Gander mtn or Cabelas, or Eddie Bauer, Land's End. Chicago can get seriously cold.
