I'd like to invest in a pair of snow boots to have and keep for a couple of years. I'm currently living in Chicago and everyone seems to be wearing duck boots. They do seem to be the most practical given this weather.
I'd like some that aren't too flashy and go with many outfits. I was thinking something a long the lines of LL Bean's version:
But then I also like the Sorel boot (not a fan of the logo though):
What brands of snow boot are best for the very cold weather?
The Sorel boot pictured is keeping my feet warm and dry this season! Be aware that they are bulky. I sized down a half size. Also, I have trouble moving quickly in them. While there is plenty of ankle room, I just don't have the ankle flexibilty in these. This could be due to weight of the boot or possibly height. Anyhow, I like the styling and that they keep my feet warm, especially during this Arctic blast. Btw, the logo is barely noticable.
I like Sorels and my pair have kept my feet warm for about five years. I don't give a flying hoot about the logo; they work as advertised!
Also pretty much anything made by LL Bean.
I have two pairs of boots that are both shearling that have been great. The first is a pair of ULU boots, the brand is now discontinued but they are 8 years old and still in great condition. The other is a pair of Rommy Tall by UGG, these are full shearling, lace up boots with a decent sole and kept my feet toasty warm when I lived in Alaska.
They're not your typical Uggs, and they're waterproof, super warm, really comfortable, and pretty cute I think. I would definitely recommend them.
