Do you save them for a long time? Do you give them to other people? Or do you usually just chuck them in the trash?
I kind of feel bad for throwing out clothes sometimes, but I do wonder if you donate or give away all those clothes of yesteryear, will many people really get use out of it?
Clothing these days is said to be made more cheaply and be more disposable so it's harder to get people to re-use them.
I think hand-me-downs or sharing among say sisters, or brothers is getting less common.
I donate them to thrift stores. I also shop at thrift stores so I definitely think it's worth it to donate. The only time I throw away clothes if they are obviously damaged (holes, stains, etc). The thrift stores around here are packed with people. There are lots of people who would be happy to reuse your old clothes.
Depends. If they were impulse buys () that I have never gotten any use out of then I might try to sell them on Ebay. Otherwise it all goes to the Salvation Army.
Out of style. I wonder. For me, as long as something is not torn, in tact, and fits, its in style. Sometimes, going vintage does not hurt . Small sized in tact clothes are donated to kids in India via the Temple trust.

You don't have to over think this. Whether others get use from your donated clothes has nothing to do with you. You donate because someone might be able to use what you donate. If the clothing is worn out, then you can choose to make rags of it, or you can trash it.
I donate frequently to the local Goodwill, and I also shop there for some things. I relied on it heavily when I had to make do for a number of months without my normal gear. Then I donated everything back when my gear came.
I don't worry too much about the fate of what I donate. For me, its about keeping my closets orderly.
Out of style is irrelevant because clothing styles tend to become popular again every other decade.
Look at how many people wear clothes today that are designed as if it was made in the 80's.
Throw them away if you think you will not wear it anymore.
I'm a guy. I don't partake in fashion. If it fits I'm wearing it. Whether that is a nice polo shirt or my fav jurassic park t shirt. I could care less about fashion. I have more value in other things in life than "Is this fashionable"?.
We donate stuff that doesn't fit though.
