There are guys I think are decent looking or good looking but most girls look at them and say "eeww he is ugly". When people preach facial symmetry I feel that it applies more to women and less to men. For men the guys I have seen being considered good looking are usually: Tall, Muscular, and I have to admit that most women in America don't seem to be too big on finding any men from minority groups attractive, especially the younger crowd of girls who you would think are more open minded.
Other than that, I don't think there is much to it. As long as a guy is tall, muscular, and white he will be handsome to the majority of women and if he isn't all 3 then good looks just aren't going to be one of the things most women in America describe him as.
I think you actually over simplify it when you say tall and muscular=attractive. Not always. There are plenty of big ugly dudes out there. Plus different women have different tastes.

Just going by your post, you are either East Asian or possibly Indian. If I am wrong on this, then I am wrong.
My husband is shorter than the American male average. I prefer shorter and darker men and though dated different types... I knew I would marry a short guy!
How about attractiveness is overcomplicated in general? Just read the makeup thread. Honestly people don't give a rats #@! about other people's opinions if they're attracting the people they want to attract. It's called assortative mating, people.
