All my clothing items have been bought when they are on sale. I prefer not to buy clothing at the original price and either wait for sales or till they go on clearance. How about you?
For the most part I will wait for ANYTHING to go on sale before I purchase it, not just clothing. Unless it is something I have to replace right away, I will wait until a sale, or get a coupon or purchase it at a discount store. Just the very frugal part of me.

I shop sales as much as I can!
It is tough though with DH's sleeve length and my inseam. Sometimes you just have to pay full price...
There are some expensive brands of clothing (Eileen Fisher) that tend to fit me well and last a long time. I can't buy them unless they are on sale, so I cruise the sale rack regularly in hopes of finding a treasure.
Since I am so hard to fit, I usually check the sales first, but if I do not find what I want on sale, then I might buy it anyway.
Also, I have no patience for wading through clearance racks. I won't do it for more than 5 minutes. I'd rather see an outfit on a mannequin, already put together, and buy it.
One thing I draw the line on is paying shipping online. I feel it is a rip off and I won't do it.
No, I do not buy on sale except basics like white t's and levis.
I have two wardrobes though I really only think about the one, the other is on autopilot. I work outside, a lot, doing field work on boats, in marshes, etc. So for that I have jeans, T's, a couple of quality fleeces, and merrells that wear out often. Those items I will buy on sale since I know I need them replaced often.
My regular clothes, for school, the office, etc. is a capsule wardrobe and I invest in those pieces. I have a cashmere sweater I paid $400 for but I have had it almost 10 years and it still looks and feels great. So I rarely go shopping for "fun", so I do not shop sales much at all.
I usually do. Like lkb says, if something fits me for very long I would buy more expensive good quality material. However, my body shape has kept changing so I need to swap clothes every 2 years. Once my growth spurt stabilizes, maybe things will change.

My daughter wrote me an email a couple of years ago about all the good stuff she got at a sale that day and ended it with, "and I am always grateful to my Mama who taught me never to pay full price for anything."
For the most part. I hate paying full price. However, I have recently had to replace my entire wardrobe, so there are items I paid full price for because I needed something to wear! It is expensive to replace everything.
