I very much prefer sandals over flip flops. Flip flops offer no support and are very uncomfortable to walk in for any distance. I wear them to the beach, to walk the short distance from the parking lot to the sand. Nothing more.
I still prefer sneakers over sandals, even in the summer. But I do like sandals, and I have no problem wearing them with shorts.
You can get flip flops with support in them...not the ones walmart sells for $2, but if you spend a little more you can get some pretty comfortable ones.
I don't care for flip flops on men or women unless at the beach. I know many like them. Even how people walk in them and how they make that sticky sound. It seems people drag their feet when they walk in them. I know when I was living in FL and CA they were popular. In FL people of all ages, male and female would wear them.
Flip flops are good for your feet. You can find some terrific ones in almost all beach communities. If I could get away with it, I'd wear the things everyday/everywhere. For special occasions you can get bejeweled ones! Fancy schmancy!
Barefoot is best however. Check with your Dr. first and make sure your tetanus shots are up to date.
Does it need to be in triple digits? At what temperature would you say is warm enough to wear flip flops?
Not at all, my point was simply that in extremely hot weather, nothing is going to beat flip-flops/sandals in terms of comfort. I usually wear flip-flops if the high temperature is 60 degrees or higher (provided it's not raining or extremely windy).

I agree but are flip flops socially acceptable away from let's say the beach, around the house, or running a quick errand?
The Guys shouldn't wear flip-flops/sandals at all vote is getting higher and higher .
People can wear what they want, but I just dont like the look of men in flip flops or sandals. Now, a man in Timb boots? Sexy as hell!
But that's just another instance of men being seen as attractive when they cover their bodies, rather than showing them. How about finding a way to like men's appearance when they have a little skin on view, apart from their faces and hands?
