I wear either Cole Hahn's or Johnston and Murphy. I have another pair of cheap dress shoes which I've been wearing a lot recently, unfortunately, because of the horrible weather. If my job didn't require me to really walk in the elements, I'd be much more comfortable wearing more expensive shoes.
Although, I suppose I could always get a nice pair of shoes and leave them at work and just put them on when I get there.
Can't go wrong with Alden's. Many styles of their shoes are on the more conservative side, but will never go out of style. The quality is outstanding and made in the USA. With your income, you could probably easily afford their cordovan leather models.
Every many should have one awesome pair of dress shoe. They're a lifetime investment that will last decades if taken care of properly. It may seem expensive upfront, but if taken care of properly, a good shoe will more than provide enough return over the long haul. I can't tell you then number of compliments from both men and women that I've gotten for my Alden's ( not the cordovan leather).
Anyone who says they can't see or tell the difference between a $50-80 dress shoe from payless vs. a pair of Alden's or Allen Edmonds is full of crap or blind. The quality difference is immediate.

call me white trash but you can get decent ones for under100 bucks. no way im spending 300$
If you're comfortable in under $100 shoes, great. Personally, I've had 2 foot surgeries on the same foot... I will hunt for months in order to pay peanuts for high-end, designer clothing (clearance sales & in rare cases, vintage used), but spare no expense for shoes, otherwise my feet aren't comfortable and/or hurt. No judgment. But, you'd surely agree that a pair of leather shoes next to cheap man-made material shoes can't compare. Do what serves you best... but, the OP asked for upscale shoe recommendations. Neither is wrong... we should all wear what gives us comfort.
I have found that it is better to spend a little more for quality because it will last longer. I used to pay less than $100 for shoes but I had to replace them often and they never fit quite right. My brother in law convinced me to try ordering online from adlershoes.com. They are custom made from a cast of your foot. They are not cheap but the quality is great! My feet no longer hurt after work because my shoes fit so well!
