It seems that people are usually quite conservative when it comes to preferences in terms of looks - for themselves, and also for a partner. For instance, most men seem to prefer women with long hair, shaven legs, armpits.etc, while women generally like men with short hair, with many preferring men not to shave anything but his face. Of course there are exceptions but they seem the few.
In terms of clothing, a lot of men don't like women in 'boyish' clothes: the usual tight, form-fitting clothing, while women often think men who try to dress up too much are gay.
Some women in particular get so hung up criticising and scrutinising other women and men as well, it's like their whole lives revolve around it.

I think women like seeing men dressed up in suits and semi casual wear, but probably don't like it if men started wearing what these guys are wearing...especially American women. I would have no problem wearing some of it, but the head band has to go!!
^ I've heard it said that male fashion is so boring, and it's true. Men have to wear the same dull black suits while women parade around in all kinds of designer dresses. In nature isn't the male supposed to be the one who is the eye-catching one??
What's wrong with that? Fashion isn't limited to the 21st and 20th centuries-- people have been donning fashionable clothes since people figured out how to create a variety of styles using fabrics, dyes, and sewing techniques. Fashion also has a strong cultural component, so in a way it's like complaining about how different cultures wear different clothes. I think it's silly when people go with the fashion zeitgeist and get caught up in having the absolute latest, but for the most part people think of their clothes as an investment and try to stick to classic pieces.
