Don't listen to this, the alcohol will thin the blood, and can cause the skin to tear when the hair is removed. It can leave scars, and will be more painful in the end.

I have some hair on my back, not a lot. It doesn't bother me.

I have quite a bit of back hair and never waxed it, but I have waxed my arms before. I would recommend a professional for him, since it can get very messy doing it yourself at home. But remember to cloak him in aftershave and dust his back with powder once finished. Trust me, this process really helps combat the itchy feeling and prolongs hair growth duration. I waxed my arms this way in June, and hair didn't start growing back till mid November or so. It took me an hour for a good wax.

Electrolysis, perhaps?

Assuming that he has the money for it, that is.

Electrolysis is the word that you were looking for?

If so, then you are very welcome!

AFAIK, electrolysis is the only permanent (as in literally permanent) hair removal method/technology out there.

My guess would be several hundred dollars or perhaps even a couple thousand dollars.

I had my back waxed the past two summers when I was going on a vacation to the beach.

I don't recommend it. The hair grows back quickly and scratches against your shirt. Very irritating.
