Sanitized looks of actresses, singers, models etc. media finds smoking hot and unbelievably attractive. Are they kidding or I don't understand something about modern beauty ideals because of whatever?

In my young adulthood, models like Christy Brinkley, Cindy Crawford, Beverly Johnson, Elle Macpherson and actresses like Meryl Streep and Jessica Lange reigned as examples of beautiful.

Now body types like Nicole Richie and Angelina Jolie, who are scary skinny with no waist or hips and out of proportion fake breasts, are touted as feminine. The current version of perfect femininity looks unhealthy and unnatural.

The beauty industry has really put the screws to young women's self esteem to set such unobtainable standards.

Legitimate complain, but lousy examples. I don't think sane people view Nicole Richie as a beauty icon - at most her clothing style is emulated. Angelina Jolie had natural breasts, which recently were removed for cancer prevention. I don't think they were particularly oversized (maybe if she hadn't been underweight). Films, magazine shoots, etc. styled and shot her in a way to make her look large-breasted. Also, Meryl Streep hasn't been attractive for 30 years, if she ever was. I hear there is a movement back toward normal hips in the modeling industry. Natural breasts aren't coming back - implants are easy to get and too easily look superior.

Disagree^^^^Meryl Streep is still an attractive woman despite being older than the celebrities mentioned.
There is nothing wrong with natural and most implants look artificial, fake as well as looking identical (unless
they are extreme, if you know what I mean).

According to a TV special, a teenage Meryl Streep was at The Beatles' first American concert. There were pictures. Very average-looking. I think she looked good in Kramer vs. Kramer, with her hair pretty, her skin enhanced and her weight ideal, but her face and body have always been average.

I don't know if most implants look unnatural. Some do, and they're the ones we notice most. Millions of women get breast implants, yet how often do you spot implants on a stranger? Real breasts on women over, maybe, age 25 often look unattractive, due to shape and nipples issues. I saw a gallery of topless women maybe in their 30's, and it was widely judged negatively. Those women would have looked better with implants, even if they were slightly unnatural-looking.

I think most women look better naturally. Look at Kristen Bell (actress) for an amazing look without much distracting cleavage or any front-end work. How any woman could surgically shove implants in their body for fashion remains one of life's true mysteries.

They only look unnatural if they are too large and placed on top of the muscle (pectorals), which is what porn stars, etc get...most "regular" women get them placed behind the muscle, which looks and feels very real, because what you are seeing and touching IS the person's actual breast tissue, not the implant.

I always hate when they do the "Sexiest Man/Woman Alive" things because they only include famous people. I guess your average Joe/Jane can't possibly be sexy...

what dangerous role models for younger teens to have..

nothing wrong with a little marbling on a woman ...
