I've been on a weight loss kick (60 lbs lost, YAY me!) and have some old clothes that are now much too big and have holes in embarrassing areas. Here is a list

Old jeans and khakis that have holes in the crotch area due to thigh rub.

old t-shirts and polo shirts that are too big and have holes near the waist (I had a habit of leaning against the register when I was a cashier).

Are these just garbage now? What do you think?

The ones with holes = GARBAGE
If you have some without holes = donate them

Keep one as a reminder on how big you were. As a motivation to never go back there.

Congrats to the weight loss!!

Before you throw out the ones with holes...check with your local animal shelters. I know several that accept old clothing to make "bedding" for the rescued animals.

Congratulations on your weight loss.

I'm assuming you don't sew (most people don't), but see if you can donate the fabric. My mother-in-law used to make stuff out of my husband's worn-out khakis. She even made a coat for the dog, and a cargo pocket became a pouch where he can carry his own treats, etc. on walks. Even if there are holes in some places, there's still a lot of fabric in pants that can be repurposed, if you know anybody who is so inclined.

Use them for rags when you wash the car.

this. Just be sure to rewash them without using any fabric softener as that will scratch the paint.

Are they garbage??? NO!!!!!!!!!! In our home we call those "bird clothes"!!! Get yourself a couple or three parrots - they LOVE to chew holes in your clothes (and they poop!) and call it good! You have the perfect clothes for cruising around your house with a bunch of birds on your shoulders!!!

(Just remember to change clothes when you're going to leave the house! LOL!!!)

My great grandmother never threw out old clothes. She saved them to make quilts.
I have also seen some really cute aprons made from old jeans.

Cut them up and make cleaning rags out of them. The cotton t-shirts especially are great for glass, as they won't scratch, provided they are clean. My mom uses scraps of old t-shirts to clean her glasses off. We also use them to wash our cars and use them to clean around the house in place of paper towels, since those are so wasteful.

You can also use the scraps to pack delicate Christmas ornaments up or box up glassware that's not in use.
