It's hard for preteen and teen girls to stay fashionable without being sexy at times. I developed early for back in my time(more common now) and I had many arguments with my mom about clothing. I specifically remember when the pin striped mini denim skirts were the rage. All the girls were wearing them with sweaters and tights etc... I wanted one so bad but because I wasn't rail then and had some butt and curves, my mom deemed all of them too sexy...for me. She even said because I remember to this day, " They look cute on skinny girls, but they look cheap on you". It did effect my psyche, how could it not? Now as an adult I understand what she was saying but at the time I felt horribly ashamed that there was something different about me and it wasn't perceived as positive. I still don't think that attitude is right but I understand where it comes from.

Hm, this is a tough one, that's going to be dependent on the culture and most importantly the family of the girl. It seems it's generally over 16, me personally I'd say at least 18, I see too many 14 year olds dressing inappropriately, sad time.

Why is it necessary to be fashionable?

Why are they being indoctrinated into the superficial Barbie doll model of what women are supposed to be?

Why are we sexualizing these children so early?

Yes. And high school graduation behind her.

18.

Stop 'sexualizing' young people before their time, like the way the media does.

Even 18 seems young. I would hope for 20/21 maybe! It is their choice as adults, but I think if parents are consistent in helping them make good choices in their childhood and teen years, then they would probably go on to have the skills to make good ones themselves.
