I won't say they're trashy because that's just kinda rude. They're not my thang and I'd never get one. Then again, I'm a big baby when it comes to piercings.
I've never understood either. I also don't understand the popularity of gauges. Why would anyone want to get their ear mutilated like that? I mean when you get older, it will look so weird having a giant hole on your ears.

The same reasoning applies to tattoos. Why would anyone do that?
I get a one inch tattoo in the ankle. That is it. Anything else is over the top.
I try not to judge so I would not use the word trashy. Very very unattractive on a woman though. Ditto for tattoos and pink hair. I like em natural looking, preferably little to no makeup or jewelry.
I must admit that back in 92 I got one.. I only wore it for about 4 months.. funny thing, I did not like to show it off that much..
Yes I think they are "trashy".. Unless the person has many other piercings or has the goth look, then it just blends in. But to see it on a regular looking person looks strange. Same with those ear holes people are getting lately.
Lip piercings that loop around the lip are odd to look at.
Nose piercings are no big deal..
