I've read that it is good for the skin..I tired washing my face with it...Then washing it off..I Could tell it penetrated and my skin felt great after drying my face...Yet then, I used witch hazel, applied a tiny dab and then my skin felt greasy. Should I just wash my face with it or continue applying after showering? Also, is there anything I can mix it with, say..Lemon, water? I use California extra virgin organic olive oil.
I have done an oil cleanse with olive oil. I used a cotton pad to take it off, not water. Then followed with a blend of orange blossom water/rose water as a toner.
I know you are speaking about putting it on your face but a diet that has healthy oils with omega 3 is supposed to help with healthy skin. It helps I guess bring inflammation down.
Olive oil is very good for the skin. It promotes elastic and collagen which protect against wrinkling and it contains antioxidants. It's an excellent moisturizer and is well absorbed into the skin. You can just coat your face with it or use it as a scrub with sugar. Some people use it as a makeup remover. An advantage over many other oils and cosmetics is that few people are allergic to olive oil.
You can make your own cosmetics using olive oil as a main ingredient--using cocoa butter, glycerin, and other ingredients to make a cream. It's a relatively inexpensive way to get a really quality type of skin care.
Not me. I have naturally oily skin, and never put any additional oils on it. During particularly harsh winters, if I experience any dry skin on my face (not typical), I will use an oil-free moisturizer, but that's it.
I have no doubt that it has useful properties, but it's not suited to my skin type at all. Oil-free products are a must.
