To sport a beard like the one you have, I would have to be mentally deranged, having completely lost my sense of what it is to be a human being. I would have lost all hope of encountering anyone of the opposite sex, with no possibility of ever getting romantically involved with any woman in her right mind. I would prefer the company of wild animals instead of people. I would have to prefer to live in complete solitude, probably in a cave in some desolate town called Undertherock, or stranded on a remote island with no human contact and no hope. I would have to have completely lost my sense of style and sophistication, sense of dignity and class, and sense of personal hygiene. No.
I find that such beards are a reflection of the historically poor tastes that many men have today in their sense of style. I have nothing in common with someone sporting a beard like the one you have, and I would never do that to myself.
If it works for you, in the circles you run, good.
As a gay man, I think "scruff" looks good on some men, or maybe a very short beard. But the long beard?? NO! Makes me think "terrorist". I don't know how anyone could stand to have that hanging off their face!
I keep a shortly trimmed beard. Neck is shaved, trimmed around the mouth and cheeks. Beard is kept very short as well.
When I shave, I look very young, I have a bit of a baby face. I always get ID'd when I shave. In my field of work, I am very young compared to my counterparts, so I will take any advantage I can get.
