Its actually a thread regarding the connection between attractive people and designer handbags.

As a girl who went through a phase of acquiring multiple designer handbags (Balenciaga, Hermès Birkin(s) & Kelly, Chanel, Vuitton, Chloé, Prada, Miu Miu, Mulberry, Dior, Céline, etc), I completely agree with this statement. Rarely did heterosexual men notice the value of the bag (beyond the fact that if it was heavily monogrammed, it was probably expensive) but women would either shoot me envious looks or give me compliments. Gay guys, on the other hand, frequently came up to me and asked to see or hold the bag. It was a source of amusement/ego boost The same could be said of designer footwear.

Since I started grad school a couple of years ago, I no longer have time to match my purses to my clothes/shoes. I also haven't had time to further expand my collection. To be honest, there is a great feeling that comes with dressing well and being admired.

However, like Solomon said, "All is vanity...a chasing of the wind."

It's an accent to an already well-groomed woman's general appearance of polish, but I don't think the bag itself makes anyone more attractive, or, say makes a disheveled woman look pulled-together. I should think the most a straight man would notice is "that is a nice leather bag", and that's probably assuming he's got some attraction to and inkling about good leather goods in cars and similar.

What a silly notion and definitely nowhere close to true.
Especially when you see disciples of "ghetto fab" toting one!

I think a high end designer bag is like a skunk's tail. The minute men sees it they run away.

I agree the right/wrong bag can change an outfit

In saying that I'm not a huge fan of them, and designer isn't my style. My favourite bag I picked up from a market for $50 and people often comment on it.

Some of those bags are so gaudy looking that I can see why the women carrying them would look attractive in comparison. I for the life of me can't figure out the appeal of Vera Bradley bags. The patterns look like blouses an old woman might have worn about 30 years ago.

No straight man cares what kind of purse a woman carries.
