I've been thinking about how in old days people wore long sleeve tops year round. I wonder if people should start doing this today to aid in protection from the sun? I know some fabric materials are light and cool while still providing some protection from the sun, especially if they're loose fitting to allow air to flow. Wide rim hats were also a protection from the sun (both guys and gals).

Tactical Shirts
Tactical Shirts - 5.11 Tactical Operator Shirts & Work Wear

Seriously, in Texas, I wear them all year around. Now, usually, I'm working in computer spaces, but even outside, I'll have khaki, maybe olive drab on in the summer, save my navy ones for the winter. I may roll up the sleeves, but often, I leave the sleeves down and the cuffs unbutton. The shirts are vented in the back.

Additionally, this is my style of hat

I wear it day in, day out. I insist on hats with stampede strings.

You know what the great thing about Tac shirts and bush hats is? That one can push themselves through Texas brush without much of a worry, without much of a scratch.

VoGM, you'd consider that? In South Louisiana?? Not me thanks. Maybe because I wasn't born here.

No, give me tanks and tees and lightweight, most of the year here.

So many people are deficient in Vitamin D, especially northerners. I'll soak up sun to boost my vitamin D when I can.

I positively cannot STAND sleeves or pant legs when it is hot and humid, so it is shorts and tanks or ts for me when I am outside.

I do wear long sleeve and slightly and tightly woven cotton tops and sometimes long sleeve blouses...plus I apply an SPF 30 all over after my shower in the am. I was even thinking of doing a "Diane Keaton" and start wearing some type of gloves in the spring, summer and fall; I just don't know what would work in that regard. I hope it's helping and not poisoning me with the SPF 'properties" in the sun screen.

You could always wear a good ol' Canadian Tuxedo.

I dislike sun screen.

I like the idea of wearing long-sleeve sheer shirts. Especially on hot days where sun protection is a must.

Navy blue sheer shirts or even black with brim hats look cute!

exactly!! (although I have olive skin... so... I don't burn too easily). We should be getting 15 minutes of sun a day.
.. vitamin d deficiency is becoming a problem.
