Too short? It's tunic length. How long do you think tops should be?

In a work situation the top should be long enough that when she bends over or lifts her arms to reach her bottom is ABSOLUTELY NOT EXPOSED. That top needs another 3-5 inches at least.

I know that makes me sound like an old fogey, but there are still places -- and banks are one of them -- where women who wear stuff like this will not get ahead, and the men who do will think less of them.

And there are plenty of cases -- including banks -- where this is not the case at all.

By the way, that's not a top you're describing, that's a dress.

In short, OP, you need to inquire at your branch. No one here will be able to tell you what is acceptable in your work environment.

I already decided I won't buy the outfit. I don't work at a branch though, I work in a corporate office. Also, I don't care about or want a promotion. But, regardless, I'll continue with my boring black/navy/gray wardrobe of collared shirts and jackets/cardigans.

About getting taken seriously, I only look at the persons face while talking and get to the point.
It is different for men.

You can safely move away from the button downs.

I really don't see much of a difference here. Most people here, men and women alike try to avoid jackets with business attire unless absolutely required.

If the dress code is such a problem for you find a different job. Most bank employees wear business attire......since it is a place of business.

I don't think it's professional work attire, leggings are not meant to be worn as pants, they are too form fitting for a professional institution. I'm saying this as a 19 year old college student who occasionally wears leggings on campus, but would never be caught dead in leggings at the office.
