I was in my 20's in the 1980's and I did not own anything they showed except for one black fanny pack.
Anything I was forced to purchase with shoulder pads in it I cut out the shoulder pads but overall the colors were not that bad.
However, the main reason I have always worn roughly the same clothing is because I have never followed fashion trends and what I have today that is 10 or 15 years old is still classic and in "fashion".

The 80s were not so bad. I remember the 70s when we wore things like colorful plaid slacks to work, and paisley neckties 6" wide. Wide-wale corduroy sport coats, and last but not least - Bellbottom pants.
