If everyone dressed the same it would be a boring world. I prefer to look nice, that is what is comfortable for me. I don't judge those who wear a different kind of comfortable.

I travel a lot. I don't see a huge difference in the way we dress. I will say I was very impressed with Norwegians, they are quite stylish at every age.

This reminds me of a Scottish lady that was in my knitting group. One day she decided to tell us she could spot an American in Scotland every time because they always wore jeans. I looked around the room... I said to her, "You are the only one here wearing jeans and an old sweatshirt". The rest of us were pretty polished looking. Funny---she never came back.

I don't think you travel much. I can post photos of men in the streets of a lot of European countries. This is not the common look!

This x 100.

I'm just not impressed with a man who dresses like that ALL of the time. A nice fitting pair of jeans, work boots, and a t-shirt that fits well....sign me up!

Would this be considered the "average" American male? If so, OP may have a point.

Stop wearing gym / comfy clothes when going outside anywhere.. gah so embarrassing! Similar with ladies going to the mall with PJ's!

It's ugly and annoying seeing American men wearing baggy pants, those annoying graphic tees, etc.
Wear slim-fit and try to be fashionable! Nobody asks you to buy brand-name expensive clothing
European men wear gym/comfy clothes outside, too. They wear track suits, or old jeans. It depends on the European men. You're probably not comparing apples to apples and oranges to oranges. Many of the European men who visit the US are high-income. Those that aren't dress like Americans and use Air B&B or youth hostels to stay in. The latter are probably the ones you don't notice, because they don't stand out.
