And, yeah...skinny jeans, UGGs, and ombre hair are absolutely going to be savaged by people in 10-15 years, and then in 20-25, will be "so retro" (or whatever the current word meaning "retro" becomes).
omber hair is when it is dark on top and sort of gradually fades into almost blonde on the bottom. i think it can apply to other gradient color changes too
Regular 80s style was very similar to regular style these days. t-shirts, sweat shirts, form fitting jeans, Vans or "Vans-like" shoes. In fact most of the current styles are inspired by 80s retro but now it's starting to turn into 90s retro, like baggier pants, bigger t-shirts, high waters, hiking and ski wear inspired jackets, etc.
The hair styles are probably the most different thing. Women's hair was crazy but could sometimes be hot. Men's hair was just BAD.

Also can't believe I thought the mullet with perm in back was cute on guys. I even helped give my brother a perm for his senior picture. Good times!
There's no doubt the 1980s had some ugly hair and mustaches, but do people in the 2010s, with their obesity, tattoos, and gauge piercings really have any room to criticize another generation?

Yeah the 90s had a lot of pretty ugly fashion. I think most of the "everyday" fashion in that decade was similar to the stuff people wore in the 80s though.
I guess it depended on where you were. I grew up near Seattle, AKA ground zero for the alternative rock scene. I think 90% of the "cool kids" who were white teenagers were trying to dress like Nirvana, 8% were goths and the rest just got picked on.
Just in the last 12 months, I've seen quite a bit of retro-80s fashion where I live. Big hair, neon colors, even a couple of guys with mullets (not even kidding). I see joggers with headbands and legwarmers every now and then too. No shoulder pads though.
It certainly is interesting.
One thing that I think is unique to this decade (so far) is the dyed bright hair colors - red, blue, pink, purple, green. I don't know if these women are inspired by Lady Gaga or Katy Perry, but it's definitely a thing here right now. It will probably be made fun of in a decade or so, like how we make fun of 80s and 90s fashions today.
